Yellow Brick Roads

My Story

Hi,I'm Emma

First and foremost, I’m a proud mum to three amazing girls who inspire me every day. They’re the heartbeat behind this website, driving me to share what I’ve learned with all of you.

Truthfully, though, this site is as much for me as it is for you—a space for us to grow together. As I write this, I’m nestled in my home on a farm in the stunning Devon countryside, surrounded by what I believe to be one of the UK’s most beautiful landscapes

My mission is : to support mums like you in finding joy, balance, and confidence.
As a mum of three, I understand the challenges, and I’m here to share the tools that have helped me. Together, we’ll navigate the ups and downs, laugh, learn, and create a better life for you and your family.

MOOOO!

Every morning, I’m lucky enough to be woken not just by the kids, but by the bleating of lambs and the mooing of cows. It might not be everyone’s idea of bliss, but to me, it’s pure heaven. However, I didn’t always feel this fortunate.

Back in 2018, I was living just outside London in a small town called Leigh-on-Sea, Essex. I had spent nearly forty years in Essex, and life there was good. Our friends and family were close by, we had an active social life, and there was always a party or family gathering to attend. But deep down, something felt off.

The big 40

At forty, Essex no longer felt like the home I wanted it to be. London’s relentless expansion was changing the character of our once-close-knit town. Where I used to walk down the high street and recognize every face, I now found myself surrounded by new faces and a faster pace of life. As more people moved from London to Leigh-on-Sea, the friendly atmosphere I cherished was fading. I felt like life was speeding by, and I longed for it to slow down.

Watching my hometown transform before my eyes, I realized I wanted something different—a quieter, less hectic place to raise our kids. My partner Matt and I often talked about moving abroad. We had both traveled the world in our twenties and dreamed of emigrating one day, but the thought of leaving our family behind, especially our parents, always held us back.

Beautiful bovey

Work had me travelling all over the country, and on one trip to the South-West of England, I stayed at Bovey Castle in Dartmoor, Devon. Wow… what a place! It was simply stunning. After that weekend, I couldn’t wait to get home and speak to Matt to see if Devon could be our potential new home. Without hesitation, Matt said ‘Yes, why not?’… and that was all I needed. My mind was set and there was no stopping me. Fast forward a few months and here we are!

We now live in South Devon, surrounded by rolling green hills and some of the country’s most beautiful beaches. Our kids attend a local village school, a fraction of the size of their old school in Essex. Matt and I both work from home, and life is exactly where we want it to be… proof that dreams really do come true!

YBR is here to encourage you, build your confidence and help you to gain clarity and focus on what it is that you really want.

Why Yellow Brick Roads?

Moving to a new town means creating new connections, making new friends, and navigating a lot of trial and error. But with that fresh start comes the chance to truly embrace who you are and align your life with your values and beliefs.

Being around new people brought me a lot of clarity, and I began to notice patterns. I saw how many women, in general, struggle with confidence and deal with anxiety. This realisation is what inspired me to create ‘Yellow Brick Roads.’

My Inspiration

In 2018, I lost a dear friend to cancer. She was, and always will be, a bright light in my life. When I think of her, I see the colour yellow.

One of my favourite childhood films was The Wizard of Oz, and like Glinda the Good Witch, I truly believe that dreams can come true.

The characters in that movie teach us powerful lessons: the Lion seeks courage and strength, the Tin Man yearns for love and connection, and the Scarecrow knows that wisdom creates opportunity.

If you’re struggling with confidence, self-belief, or feeling like you’ve lost your sense of purpose, Yellow Brick Roads is here to help. When you change the way you think, adjust your behaviours, and build positive habits, amazing things can happen. We all need a little Lion, Tin Man, and Scarecrow in our lives.

Imagine a life where you have the courage to pursue your dreams, the support of people who truly care, and the knowledge to achieve all your goals. I dedicate my time to helping women grow in confidence and create a beautiful life for themselves and their families.

I’m here to guide you down your own Yellow Brick Road to the life you’re destined to live. If you’re struggling and need some positive support, don’t hesitate to reach out. If you have a question, drop me an email—I’m here to help.
