I'M EMMA
First and foremost I’m a mum to three gorgeous girls. Ultimately, they are the drive behind me setting up this website for you guys. I say ‘it’s for you guys’, but in truth, when you’re doing something you love, you become the student as well as the teacher.
I’m sitting writing this from my home in the beautiful Devon countryside. I live on a farm, and in my humble opinion, it’s located in one of the most beautiful parts of the UK.
MOOOO!
I am lucky enough to be woken up every morning, (not only by the kids), by the bleating of lambs and the mooing of cows. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but for me its pure heaven…. however, I didn’t always feel this fortunate.
Back in 2018 I was living just outside London in a small town called Leigh-on-sea, in Essex. I’d been living in Essex for the best part of forty years and life there was great. All of our friends and family lived nearby. We had a great social life and there was always a party to go to or some sort of family get together taking place. But, something inside of me didn’t feel quite…
the big 40
At age forty, living in Essex just didn’t feel like home anymore, or at least the home I wanted it to be.
London was ever-expanding. Where I used to walk down our local high street and know everybody, it was gradually changing and losing the friendly feeling it once had. Lots of people were moving down to Leigh-on-Sea from London and our little town was adopting a faster pace of life. I felt like life was passing me by way too quickly and I was desperate for it to slow down.
My home town was rapidly changing right before my very eyes and I started to feel different about the place where I grew up. I craved a slower pace of life and wanted a less busy environment where I could raise the kids. Many times in the past, myself and my partner Matt had spoken about moving abroad. We both travelled the world in our twenties and dreamt of emigrating one day, but the main stumbling block for us in a move like this was leaving our family behind, especially the parents.
Beautiful bovey
Work at the time took me up and down the country, and on one of my trips to the South-West of England, I stopped over at Bovey Castle located in Dartmoor, Devon. Wow… what a place, it’s quite simple stunning!
I remember rushing back home after a working weekend away and asking Matt if Devon could be a potential for us as a relocation. In a heartbeat his reply was ‘Yes’, and that was it. We set the wheels in motion and made it happen. When I decide on something generally there’s no stopping me and fast forward 18-months and here we are!
We live in South Devon amongst rolling green hills as far as the eye can see, and some of the country’s most beautiful beaches are on our doorstep. My kids go to a local village school, a tenth of the size of their Essex school. Myself and Matt both work from home and life is just where we want it to be…. dreams can come true!
"Whatever you dream your life to be, you can make it your reality"
YBR is here to encourage you, build your confidence and help you to gain clarity and focus on what it is that you really want.
Why Yellow Brick Roads?
Moving to a new town means building new connections, making new friends and a lot of trial and error. Having that fresh start gives you the opportunity to really embrace the real you, doing all the things that align with your values and beliefs.
Being around new people gave me so much clarity and I started to see patterns emerging. I noticed how many women, in general, struggle with their confidence and suffer with anxiety. This was the reason ‘Yellow Brick Roads’ came about.
My Inspiration
In 2018 I lost a dear friend to Cancer. She was and still is a shining star in my life, and when I think of her I see the colour yellow.
One of my favourite childhood films was ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and just like Glinda the ‘Good Witch’, I believe that dreams really can come true!
All the characters in this movie teach us a valuable lesson. ‘Lion’ is looking for courage and strength, ‘Tin Man’ is after love and connection and ‘Scarecrow’ knows that knowledge and wisdom create opportunity.
If you struggle with a lack of confidence, self belief, and feel like they’ve lost your sense of purpose in life, Yellow Brick Roads is here to help. When you work on the way you think, change your behaviours and create positive habits, amazing things happen. You see… we all need a little Lion, Tin Man and Scarecrow in our life.
Imagine what your life would be like if you had courage to go after your dreams, people around you who truly cared and supported you, and the know-how to achieve all of the goals you set yourself? I spend the majority of my time helping women get past their challenges, grow in confidence and create a beautiful life for themselves and their families.
I’m here to guide you down your own ‘Yellow Brick Road’ to the life you’re destined to live….so if you’re struggling and in need of some positive support, don’t hesitate to get in touch, and if you have a question, drop me an email, I’m here to help.
